1. What credit requirements are necessary to obtain CII qualifications?

There are 3 levels of qualification in insurance and for the attainment of each repspective level a number of credits must be achieved.

A summary of these requirements are noted in the following table:

Certificate in Insurance


You must accumulate a minimum of 40 credits. Unit IF1 is compulsory. A core qualification covering basic insurance principles.
Diploma in Insurance


You must accumulate 120 credits with at least 90 at Diploma level or above. Units P92 (Business and Finance) and P05 (Insurance Law) are compulsory. A technical  qualification providing firm grounding in insurance fundamentals and advanced technical skills.
Advanced Diploma


You must accumulate 290 credits with a minimum of 205 at Diploma or Advanced Diploma Level and 90 at Advanced Level. There are no compulsory units however candidates must sit for 1 examination directly with the CII. A professional qualification providing enhanced understanding of insurance practice both in terms of technical subject matter and overall application skills.
